Crosswoodhill was one of 3 finalists in the "Best Self-Catering Experience" category of the Regional Thistle Finals for Edinburgh & the Lothians. We awaited the verdict with huge optimism, whilst dining in style at the Awards Ceremony at Prestonfield House, Edinburgh in November. Did we win? Unfortunately not .. which explains the Finalist logo above and not a Winner's one! Over the 20 years, these prestigious awards have been going, Crosswoodhill has been lucky enough to win more Thistles in the accommodation categories than any other self-catering business. So, yes, there's always another year! Entering awards is of huge benefit to us. It really makes us stop and think, step by step, are we offering the best experience to the most important people? Yes, you, our guests. And can we do better?
But the best experience is not just about the cottages and the welcome. It includes signposting you to some of the wonderful, not-to -be missed opportunities awaiting you not far from here. You'll find lots of ideas within our See & Do Pages here. But why not also tap into these other websites for an exciting descriptive flavour of what's on over the festive period? Some experiences are best booked in advance.

Meantime, we hope you'll take a couple of minutes to watch our newly created video (below and also added to our Home Page) This gives more than a brief flavour of the interiors of our 4 Crosswoodhill properties which can see in more detail on our individual property Gallery Pages. Thanks to the use of a drone, the video shows aerial shots of our farmhouse and the surrounding landscape, the only place on our website you get this bonus. Viewers have told me how much they like this. And, by the way, for the curious, the background music is by the Austrian Richard Franz Joseph Heuberger ( 1850 - 1914 ) who composed operettas and ballets with a great mix of dramatic and calming melodies. I feel his music reflects the experience we offer our guests at Crosswoodhill.
