Main door of Crosswoodhill Farmhouse
A smiling “G” will greet you from the main door of the farmhouse.

We live at the far end of Crosswoodhill Farmhouse, to the right of the  aerial  photo at the top.  The smaller image above shows the door you come to on arrival.  Please don’t expect me to look as chic as I do in the photo at the base of this page!

Our guests staying in the Wing (in the centre of the aerial photo ) or Orlege (at the far end and hidden behind the trees) have only a few yards to walk to find us.  Steading Cottage and Craigengar Lodge are not far away.

For those interested ……. here’s an introduction to your would-be hosts

Matthew, known as Hew, the Farmer, is a true Scot, born and bred at Crosswoodhill. His family, the Hamiltons, have farmed sheep here for generations on the Pentland Hills. We also have a herd of over 100 beef cattle.

I am Geraldine, known as “G”, a Scot by adoption. Despite living in Scotland now for over 40 years I have been unable to lose my English accent. I am also a trained nurse and  love  doing one or two night nursing shifts a week  at  local hospitals and am lucky enough to be able to  choose  the nursing shifts  that "fit" with our cottage  enterprise  needs. We try to be unobtrusive with our holiday cottage guests, but for many it is a great comfort that we live on site and available to help; guests with a problem.

Wedded to both Hew and the farm and no longer able to travel the world, the world now comes to us at Crosswoodhill and we have welcomed guests from every corner of the globe to our quality self-catering accommodation near Edinburgh. Many of our guests have become as passionate as I am about Scotland. If you haven’t visited Scotland before, don’t miss a wonderful experience. Below is just one example of a myriad of wonderful experience I have  enjoyed.
