Situated on the north side of the Pentland Hills, 29 kms. west of Edinburgh city centre, Crosswoodhill is on the A70, one mile west of the B7008. Alternatively, to select the route chosen by experts and discover how long the journey may take you, click on www.rac.co.uk/routeplanner or alternatively www.multimaps.com and select directions. As Crosswoodhill is not recognised as a destination and typing in West Calder is misleading ( it is 7 miles north on the A71 whereas Crosswoodhill is on the A70 ) we suggest you use our postcode EH55 8LP as a destination or arrival point. If you want to avoid adding extra miles to your journey, to make sure you are directed along the A70 rather than directed north to the A71 and then south, we advise you use the "via" option offered. If coming from the east or Edinburgh direction enter either "Wester Hailes Road, Edinburgh" a road on the outskirts of Edinburgh, or "EH13 0 " into the "via" box. If coming from the west, use the village of Carnwath or the postcode ML11 8 as a via point, but ignore any RAC or multimap directions from Carnwath that take you off the A70. Crosswoodhill is a straight 8 miles along the A70 from Carnwath. Our own directions (above, and printable) will guide you along the last stretch much more easily.
